This is our base in Gilwilly Industrial Estate, Penrith, Cumbria UK. Ideally placed for access along the A66 and up/down the M6. The two service vans are usually on the road but were here for the team photo. Call us on 01768 864 275.

The Early Days

The team behind PSSI started their business life in PENRITH in 2003 by signing a ten year franchise agreement with Pirtek.   We cut our teeth learning about hydraulic hoses, and over the ten years we grew the business to six times the size it was when we took over.

Being a franchisee has its disadvantages though, because all products must be bought at an inflated price from the franchisor.   So in 2013 at the end of the franchise agreement we declined to renew, and set up an independent business, taking our team with us.   Thankfully we didn’t have to worry about heating costs for the first year as we merely burnt the threatening letters from Pirtek reminding us we could not engage in the hydraulic hose business until August 2014.

For the first year we simply concentrated on other areas of industrial supply:  pneumatics, compressors, fixings, fasteners, groundcare products, lubricants, bearings, metal removal products, drive components (bearings, belts, chains, pulleys), PPE clothing  and boots, power tools, hand tools, log splitters, firewood processors, welders and welding consumables etc.


It was with great excitement that we launched our hydraulic hose operation in August 2014.   We started selling hoses over the counter, and through our two on-site hose replacement vans.   Our sales surged overnight, and after another year we began to feel we might actually survive!   At this time (August 2017) the business is still growing 20% every year.
