- Relatively short life measured in working hours
- ONLY suitable for low-use / hobby applications

Piston (quality)

- Tend to have cast iron cylinders, a long stroke, and slow speed for longer life than most piston compressors.
- Still noisy!
- Max duty cycle of 70% (e.g. works for 7 minutes, off for 3 minutes)
- Not ideal for continuous 24/7 heavy duty operation, but are ideal for use as a back up compressor in these applications.
